In New York City she coordinated fundraising efforts for Operation Support (1991), a non-profit established to pay for the college education of children of fallen soldiers of the Persian Gulf Crisis.   She was the Associate Executive Director of the New York City Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America where she created and implemented fundraising events and secured grant monies for research.

In 1993 she became the Finance Director for the mayoral campaign of Rudolph W. Giuliani and was instrumental in raising over $10 million from high-level corporate donors leading to the candidate’s successful run for office.  Jeanne became the Deputy Director of the Mayor’s Office of Special Projects to the Executive Director of the United Nations 50th Anniversary.  This experience expanded her knowledge of the New York environment and helped her to build a wide network of resources and associations.

With the founding of Stafford & Company in 1997, Jeanne Stafford realized a long-term goal: to meld the many dimensions of her prior experience into a singular integrated enterprise, providing fundraising consultation to individuals and organizations.  Behind the launch of this ambitious undertaking stood a principle to realize each client’s unique potential through fresh and equally unique solutions.

Jeanne accepted an invitation to return to the Office of the Mayor in October of 2000 and served as Chairman of the Advisory Council for the Sister City Program at the New York City Commission for the United Nations and Protocol.  She was able to tap into the relationships established in her work with the UN and build a council of over 40 individuals representing the fields of law, public relations, finance and media to promote the city’s international partnerships.

Ms. Stafford has been active in several social service agencies and is involved in numerous community and civic enterprises: Board Member of Making Books Sing; former Board Member of Creative Alternatives of New York; consultant to the board of the Variety Child Leaning Center; served her alma mater, Trinity College as New York City Chapter President for ten years, Nominating Committee (for two years) and presently serves as an Alumnae Board Member;  Parent Member for the Committee on Special Education for the Garden City Union Free School District.

In the fall of 2006, Ms Stafford represented James Barron, New York Times reporter and author of Piano the Making of a Steinway Concert Grand (Henry Holt and Company, 2006).  She coordinated events and radio interviews around the country to promote the author and his book.
To keep her sense of humor she performs with an improv troupe in New York City in The Yes Show and The Next Show.  Jeanne participates in drama therapy courses at the Center for Creative Alternatives run by Dr. Robert Landy, NYU Drama Therapy.

Jeanne and her husband, James Murphy and children James and Harry live in Garden City, New York.
